Classmate Tara Pittman Killed
Fellow classmates:
I just received sad news that Tara Pittman was killed on Saturday night. We don't know many details other than she was crossing Highway 360 on foot at about 8:00 in the evening. We believe it was in the general area in which she lived.
There will be a memorial ceremony for her at the end of this week. I would appreciate your help in getting the word to our class and others. As soon as I know of the details, I will pass them along.
Thanks,
Michele

Holiday Party Benefits Woodrow Scholarship
Holiday Party Benefits Woodrow Scholarship
by Liz Mackinnon
The third annual Gustavo Ipiña Holiday party and benefit starts at 7 p.m. Dec. 1, at the Bodega Bar, located on Travis Street near Knox Street.
The community is invited to enjoy an evening of wine, hors' devours, and a silent auction to help fund the Gustavo Ipiña Memorial Scholarship program.
Dallas county prosecutor and scholarship founder Taly Haffar said the "party is a great way to kick off the holiday season" and experience the spirit of giving.
"We draw judges, attorneys, small business people from Lakewood, as well as other parts of North Dallas — also alumni from Woodrow, friends and family — it's just a great way to mix and mingle with people you might not see on a regular basis," he said.
The silent auction will feature a selection of holiday gift items, including Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars tickets, a spa package, autographed paraphernalia, and a cooking class for two.
Gustavo Ipiña was killed in a road rage incident in August 2004 — one week before his senior year at Woodrow. Mayor Tom Leppert declared Dec. 1 Gustavo Ipiña Day.
Last year, the event raised more than $11,000.

Support for Mrs. Bircher
Dear Woodrow Wilson Choir Alums and friends,I think most of you know that Mrs. Bircher's husband, Norman, has not beenwell for some time. His condition has really worsened this month. He went off dialysis August 3rd and they are now keeping him comfortable at this point at a facility in Lake Highlands. Mrs. Bircher said the best thing is that Norman will not have to suffer any more because the dialysis process had become very painful for him. Let's flood Mrs. Bircher with cards and notes from her "kids" that will lift her spirits and help her relax when she's home alone in between stays with Norman. Please forward this email to any one you think might not have been on the email list for the 50th WW Musical gathering.
